Swfsss...

I've FINALLY got my website domain....
http://www.riannerowlands.co.uk
..and a complete working SWF intro file... with preloader.. linking to all my current sites and e-mail!
Woopp...

I did a bit of doodling while watching Saw3 on Sunday Night.... I'm so into those movies at the min.
I just love dishevelled, drunken, wounded characters who have to face their own demons in order to pass tests and survive.. it's all very deep really. :)

..hehe doodlies of 'Geoff'..

Here's a close up of the crow from the swf..

I'm very pleased with how he looks... a new direction for my work perhaps?

My new flickr work is online...

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I have a very wise boy who keeps me grounded.. and tells me to take things ONE AT A TIME, do each thing ONE STEP AT A TIME and worry about ONE THING AT ONCE... and especially to not worry about what anyone else is doing! haha..
But I tell you something.. it bloody works!
I have a list... oh it is a mighty list...
and I work on one thing until its done... then I move onto the next...

I got all those Pitbull Tshirt designs done...

and did some other work... I feel like a creative river..

Hehe feels good to collaborate with someone on something too.. :) Rarw!

Mehh...

You can see how much my crows have improved in just a day... have to illustrate that story!!

Crow Hopping Mad!

Well, my long standing obsession with crows/ravens has just grown immensely the last few days! As I read an AMAZING story all about them by a local writer.. and I can't get it out of my head! As I read it I saw it instantly... exactly how it should (and will!!) look!
It was amazing!!! Seriously... I HAVE TO ILLUSTRATE IT!

I did a few sketches in about an hour or so that I had spare before bed.... just getting the hang of drawing more realistic crows than the cartoony ones I normally do.
I can really feel my drawing improving as I'm just doing it more and more.. and reading as much about drawing as I can, and thinking about it, and talking about it... I feel so much better now Im back into the swing!

Also... a very wise boy told me on Monday.. walking to the bonfire display through the dark barry skate park.. to concentrate on 'Your Own Thing' and 'Not to worry about what everyone else is doing.. How do you think all those people are doing their stuff??' And the minute he said it I realised it rang true! Concentrating on your own stuff is exactly how you get it done!
And not trying to do too much at once... just list them and work through them. Lately I've been trying to do bits and pieces of far too many things... instead of just setting aside time to do one, and then move onto the next. As a result nothing was getting finished... so now I have lists!! haha :)

Some crow sketches....

Week2... Jack Rabbits!

Well I had an amazing weekend Drawing wise.. I havent stopped! And I got my hands dirty and painted on Friday night.. a massive JackRabbit picture in gouache... and I really captured the fur I think.

I've just been feeling much more positive and relaxed before I start drawing. The phrase 'It's just a picture' has helped a lot.. I'm not so afraid of it going wrong now, I just pick up a new bit of paper and start again. My mind has felt much freer the last week or so and I'm very happy with all the new ideas I'm having too. I think the best way to approach art is not to think too much about it, and just do it!

Been tattooing like mad too.. well designing.. and got a new one on Sat.. swallow with a scroll reading 'white trash'.. hehe.

1920sPin-UpDetectivesFromthedeepReturn!

Well this week has been really great for my creativity... I've been drawing lots n lots in work, by making lists and prioritising what needs to be done.. so I set myself aside a little bit of time to draw things for mee!! And cause Ive been so calmeth Ive been drawing lots at home of an evening too... :) Happy.

Found lots of inspiration this week too... Been really attracted to the 1920s.. black and white especially, after becoming obessessed with 'Traditional/Old School' tattoos. So a lot of googling and research has spurned loads of ideas... specially a character of an OC detective... :) Idea for a comic perhaps?

I love John Bromfield and Beverly Garland... aceness in a pie!

Really lovin designing tattoos too.. specially within that whole 1950's pin-up era. Can't wait to get on with drawing some flash up! And hopefully getting tatted this weekend! :)

Had this wacky dream in the middle of the week.. about aliens being so pissed at the entire human race, that they just decide to wipe us all out... over 3 days! :) I think I dreamt the whole thing in real time.. haha...
Had to draw it as soon as I woke up though! :)

The Journey begins... Or ends?...

Well I'm finally back from my month away in America. It was.. Insightful to say the least.

It all started in New York. I was so nervous flying out by myself, and navigating my way around the city seemed like a daunting task, but I found it to be one of the coolest places I've ever been. I hit the streets at sunrise, empty bar for steaming vents and the smell of warm donuts. My heart was beating so hard in my chest, I was finally seeing REAL american highways, big chugging 18 wheelers and those tangled telephone cable wires for the first time. All across america I had that same excitement, that sparkle, that I was finally standing in, breathing in the places I'd only ever looked at in my photo books or leant over a desk for hours lovingly drawing.

My experiences of America will stay with me forever. The people I met where wondeful, the places so different and intriguing and as picture perfect as I'd imagined. I wasnt interested in the tourist areas or 'photo spots' I would run and explore and climb into odd contortions to get 'the perfect picture' of some run-down motel sign, an abandoned trailer or a crazy old cowboy on some tennesse bench.

But the problem is, I was so miserable and homesick there, not finding any solitary or space within the cramped confinements of my travel bus, that I'm now almost trying to avoid drawing any american themed stuff at all! Leaving me... well pretty dried up as a result. Kinda like those sweet smelling bushes in the arizona desert.. mmmm.

So now I'm looking for new inspiration, new direction, new things to draw.. until I can settle nicely again into my old familiar white trash ways.. hehe.
